The purpose of the Center for Campus Life and Culture (CCLC) is to enhance students' quality of life with services designed to improve their personal, academic and career potential.
• Individual counseling
Being a college student can be an exciting and rewarding life experience; however, with that excitement can come stress, relationship problems, academic difficulties and career concerns.
Individual counseling provides an opportunity for students to meet with a trained, professional counselor who can offer objective feedback about their concerns. A counselor can ask questions and observe to help students develop new perspectives on their concerns and develop new ideas on solving them.
• Group counseling
The Center for Campus Life and Culture offers a number of group counseling sessions that address a variety of concerns.
• Relationship Enrichment Group Counseling
This group counseling enhances students¡¯ ability to initiate and sustain friendships and explore the process of relationship building. Groups are typically composed of 9-11 members and last 10 sessions.
• Specific Theme-focused Group Counseling
Theme-focused group counseling helps students overcome specific problems or develop specific skills. The following group counseling sessions are currently offered at CCLC: Communication Skill Enhancing Program, Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Career Counseling Group and Personality-Understanding Group.
• Psychological Tests
The Center offers a range of psychological tests to enhance self-awareness and self-exploration. Psychological tests include MBTI, MMPI, SCT, K-WAIS, Holland Aptitude test and SLAT. Test results are provided in an appropriate individual or group format.
• Leadership Development Program
The Leadership Development Program helps students with their leadership abilities through professional training that focuses on developing a vision and interpersonal relationship management skills as well as communication and presentation skills. This 12-week activity-based learning stimulates self-motivation and long-term goals.
• Volunteer Services Program: "Love for Neighbors"
Love for Neighbors is a program that provides support services for student volunteer activities. It connects various volunteering programs to both students and staff in collaboration with various community institutions and organizations. Love for Neighbors has been a catalyst in facilitating and encouraging volunteering among the SNU members.
• Campus Mentoring Program
The Campus Mentoring Program-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs-is a program that promotes first-year students¡¯ effective learning and successful campus life. In the Campus Mentoring Program, first-year students are provided an opportunity to work closely with senior student mentors for making their campus life more successful. The center of the experience in the Campus Mentoring Program is the friendship students establish with their mentors. Over the course of the first school year, students spend time with their mentors in a variety of ways-eating together, talking, just hanging out or discussing ideas and concepts they learn in classes. Furthermore, the program also offers a series of workshops every term.
• Research and Publication
CCLC conducts surveys on psychological and socio-cultural characteristics of students through the ¡°Survey on the Characteristics of Entrants,¡± the ¡°Survey on Graduates,¡± and the ¡°Survey on the Adaptation of Freshmen.¡± The Center publishes annually Guide to Campus Life for entrants and Student Review in order to contribute to university policy-making and provide information to counselors.
• Cultural Events
During the semester, CCLC provides all community members with opportunities to enjoy movies every second week of the month. ¡°Wednesday Cinema¡± shows selected films every second Wednesday of the month. In addition, ¡°Cinema at the University Cultural Center¡± runs interesting movies on the big screen every fourth Thursday and Friday. Anyone who lives in the community including SNU members can see these movies free of charge. Occasionally, the Center also hosts special events such as the "Summer Film Festival" and the "Campaign for Good Drinking Habits." |
